About Us

2dB is a mixed electroacoustic music duo based in Brazil and formed by Doriana Mendes (soprano) & Bryan Holmes (electronics and sound diffusion). Its name comes from our first initials, forming dB (decibels), and 2 decibels sonically represents a cross of limits. Since our first work together we have gone beyond geographical and artistic borders, so we decided to consolidate this collaboration as 2dB duo.

Repertoire

Our programs generally alternate mixed and acousmatic electroacoustic works. Mixed works include a soprano singer and electronics (fixed support and/or real-time processed and/or generated sounds), while acousmatic works are spatialised in real-time, controlling surround sound. The singer conceives a scene for each mixed piece, inspired by its poetics. Our repertoire is mainly focused on (but not limited to) Latin American composers. We have also done presentations of single works in festivals as well as educational talks for diverse audiences.
